CLIMARTE Window Reflections with Joe Newton-Keogh’s From nowhere show.

From nowhere

We are proud to have launchd the CLIMARTE Window Reflections project with From nowhere by Joe Newton-Keogh.

Exploring the boundaries of consciousness through mostly rescued ‘waste’, Joe Newton-Keogh’s From nowhere project was born in isolation during COVID. Repurposing wire, he literally created his own companions and community.

In the Climate Emergency context – by turning waste into fellow ‘beings’ – Newton-Keogh’s work represents a form of active resistance to the isolating and exploitative forces at the heart of it.

The reflective quality of his chosen materials, shaped into hollow frames, invites contemplation. In the face of the greatest existential crisis in human history, what is our relationship to one another and to all beings with whom we share this magnificent world?

Out of the rubble, how do we ground and organise ourselves to construct the genuinely fair and ecologically sustainable future we know is possible?

From nowhere was presented in the street front window of CLIMARTE Gallery, 120 Bridge Rd, Richmond from mid September until early December 2023.
