Poster Projects Past & Present
Poster Projects Past & Present (P.P.P.P.) is a retrospective of the three collections of climate posters CLIMARTE has produced with the support of the City of Melbourne.
This timely show explores the diverse and imaginative ways in which artists convey their feelings about the climate crisis: from the didactic to numinous, graphic to abstracted. And yet they all point to the necessity and benefits of transforming from an economy and lifestyle based on extractive and exploitative practices to one that is healthy and regenerative; clean, waste free and powered by renewable energy.
Before we headed to the polls, we had a public discussion of the role street posters play in mobilising communities to demand a better future.
The discussion was led by Dr. Clare McCracken, a CLIMARTE poster artist (2019) and recipient of Vice Chancellors scholarship for her practice-led research which sits at the intersection of art, cultural geography and urban theory.
