Our first performance required us to dig deep into our skills and stamina as the animals rampaged through the city on their long migration fleeing climate destruction.

CLIMARTE is thrilled to be collaborating with actor and theatre maker Catherine Abigail Ward to amplify the impact of The Herds, a 20,000km journey of art and performative climate action on an unprecedented scale.
From the Congo Basin in April to the Arctic Circle in August 2025, this epic project presented life-size puppet animals sweeping through city centres, fleeing climate disaster.
Led by The Walk Productions (producers of Little Amal, now a global human rights symbol), The Herds’ life-sized puppet animals were meticulously designed and built using principally recycled and recyclable materials by the world-renowned Ukwanda Puppetry and Designs Art Collective.
Involving thousands of artists, performers and civil society leaders collaborating to present public performances and events all along the journey, The Herds migration was experienced by many millions of people in Africa and Europe. We were proud to support Catherine on her journey with the hope of bringing more art + climate collaborations to Asia and the Pacific.
You can see Catherine’s journey from Spain to the Arctic Circle here.
