The Scrolls Ensemble
In response to Sharon Field’s multi award-winning, ongoing project The Scrolls: 3,000 days…and counting, recent Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) alumni Ronan Apcar, Sola Hughes and Maria Zhdanovich have formed The Scrolls Ensemble to perform improvised contemporary music calling for urgent climate action.
This creative climate collaboration grew from a CLIMARTE-led participatory workshop with musicians and educators from ANAM in early 2025.
For Sharon, it was a natural progression of her project, for the spontaneous placement of her drawings have “often seemed to be arranging themselves in ways that resemble a musical score”.
The Scrolls Ensemble performances are also featured in CLIMARTE’s COOL: How We Did It project that is ongoing until Australia’s president of United Nations COP31 negotiations ends in November 2027.
Upcoming performances:
The Lyrebird Festival, Megalong Valley, 12-15 November 2026.
The Scrolls Ensemble will be performing and Sharon will be there adding daily drawings to The Scrolls as part of an exceptional program of activities bringing together art, science and community power.
Joy in Resistance as part of Rising Tide’s Fundraising concert, 4 November, 7-9pm.
