A Disability Lens on Climate Emergency

Featuring exceptional Disabled and d/Deaf artists across Victoria at the CLIMARTE Gallery, this thought-provoking exhibition offered a platform for artists to express their distinct viewpoints on the pressing issues of climate change.

This exhibition celebrated art and difference, offering an invaluable opportunity to explore the intersection of Disability and climate change through a diverse range of creative practices, while showcasing the disabled community of Victoria.

A Disability Lens on Climate Emergency
was officially launched by the City of Yarra’s Mayor, Councillor Claudia Nguyen. Featuring talks from participating artists Lefa Singleton Norton, Jane Trengove, Fiona Tuomy and the exhibitions creative producer Louise Marson.

Artist Workshop, Talk and Film Screening – 16 July 2023
Participating artist Carolyn Lunt shared her creative process and assisted guests in making their own original work. Dr Bon Mott also screened their documentary, Whitening the Sky: Light pollution as a form of cultural genocide.

Artist Talks and Film Screening – 29 July 2023
In association with A Disability Lens on Climate Emergency, Dr Bon Mott facilitated discussions with participating local artists for a viewing and discussion of their work, and to exchange ideas around Climate Emergency, one that supports all people and the natural world to thrive.
