Yandell Walton, Ecological-Encroachment, 2021.

Produced by Centre for Projection Art, EVANESCE features work by artists whose practice deeply engages with critical issues associated with the Climate Emergency.

25 May - 5 June 2022

The term ‘evanesce’ means to pass out of sight, memory, or existence and is frequently used in the present, referring to extinction that can be accounted for mainly by climate change.

Over two weeks, this exhibition aims to create a dialogue that investigates different approaches to addressing the cultural failures that are core to the grave climate and biodiversity crises we collectively face.

Participating artists: Yu-Fang Chi, Taloi Havini, Emily Simek, Autumn Tansey, Yandell Walton.
Creative Producer: Priya Namana.

Timed to coincide with World Environment Day on 5 June, this exciting collaboration with the Centre for Projection Art (CPA) will also launch ART+CLIMATE=ACTION (A+C=A). Inspired by CLIMARTE’s celebrated ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE biennial festivals, the A+C=A program will produce and present powerful climate justice artwork and creative projects on an ongoing basis.

When: 25 May – 5 June 2022

Where: CLIMARTE Gallery, 120 Bridge Rd., Richmond, Vic 3121

On World Environment Day, 5 June 2022 at 6pm, please join CPA and CLIMARTE for a public discussion with EVANESCE artists, and to officially launch A+C=A. For further details see here.

EVANESCE was made possible thanks to a grant from the City of Yarra.
